Isaiah tells us, “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:7)
Jesus himself said of his kingdom: “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” (Matthew 21:44)
Nebuchadnezzar caught a glimpse of this Kingdom in a dream and was terrified. Daniel interpreted the dream and said, “And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” (Daniel 2:34, 44)
The tragedy of our time is that, entrusted to His servants while the King has gone to inherit another Kingdom (Luke 19:12), this ever-conquering Kingdom has been losing ground in some fronts. We have allowed jobs, responsibilities, financial commitments, leisure, relationships, entertainment, and the like to encroach on holy ground.
But I hear the Holy Spirit saying, “the Kingdom is Pushing Back!”
The King is coming, and the Kingdom must be made ready! “As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’” (Luke 3:4)
Work, commuting, television, social media, the internet, toys, and personal pursuits are robbing us of time and energy to pray, to worship, to commune with God, to serve our neighbor, and to expand the boarders of His Kingdom. But the King wants back what is His, and then some… So the Kingdom is pushing back!
Get ready to be challenged, to be asked to give more, to be confronted in places where you have retreated, and to be entreated to sacrifice. If you have pledged your life to God, He is knocking on your door to collect.
The Kingdom is pushing back!
